Search Engine Advertising video book review

This is a video book review of the 2nd edition of “Search Engine Advertising: Buying Your Way to the Top to Increase Sales” by Kevin Lee and Catherine Seda

This is a great book if you have no experience with search engine marketing. Start to finish, it is a complete walk through of what to consider and what you need to know when setting up an advertising campaign. If you have experience with search engine advertising though, consider a different book.

The ABC of SEO Video Book Review

This is a video book review of David George’s “The ABC of SEO.”

I would recommend this book for anyone, who needs a quick reference or who needs to give a book to an employee hoping to learn SEO if s/he has zero prior knowledge of it. Otherwise, I believe you can get a lot of the same value out of reading popular SEO blogs. That is not to say anything about David George’s work here. It’s just that this book was published in 2005, and five years is a long time for things to change in the SEO field.

The Paradox of Choice video book review

This is a video book review of The Paradox of Choice by Barry Schwartz. It was a lot less directly applicable to nonprofit marketing than I thought it would be. That being said, I believe there is a lot of valuable information in the book for nonprofit marketers. I would just recommend it as a secondary or tertiary book choice because I believe there are more applicable books that one could start with.

Brandraising: A Video Book Review of Brandraising

This is a video book review of Sarah Durham’s Brandraising, which covers nonprofit marketing and fundraising. It would be a valuable book for someone founding a nonprofit or reorganizing one. Otherwise, I would probably skip it. I just found it to be too dry.

Video Book Review of The Social Media Marketing Book

I would suggest that many people (online marketers, marketing managers, etc) buy this book and at least have it on their shelves for reference. I would especially recommend this book for nonprofit marketers, who often need to be a jack-of-all-trades in their marketing efforts.

Crush It: A Video Book Review of Crush It

I enjoyed Gary Vaynerchuk’s Crush It!, but that being said, I would probably spend my money on another book if you are looking for specifics about online marketing, biz dev, etc. I happen to like his personality and outlook, so this book sat well with me. However, I could understand if someone did not like Gary or the book because he tends to be loud and in your face. This is more “This is how I see the world” than it is “This is a proven method of success.” For a quick read, give it a shot.

Groundswell: A Video Book Review of Groundswell

I would recommend this book for marketing students, marketers, managers and executives, and anyone considering an online marketing, or more specifically social media marketing, campaign.

The 4-Hour Workweek: A Video Book Review of The 4-Hour Workweek

I asked a couple young, driven, highly motivated, and successful folks that I know for their reviews of Timothy Ferriss’ The 4-Hour Workweek. These were their responses:

Andrew Dumont of Seesmic – “The 4-hour workweek was an amazing read, that really hones in the steps needed to become a more efficient person, in every aspect of life. Tim’s eccentric personality comes through in the voice of the book, which makes it a absolute delight to read. If you want to become efficient, successful, and most importantly, enjoyable to be around, I’d definitely give this book a go.”

Derek Johnson of Tatango & Derek Media – “I’ve read 4-Hour Workweek multiple times, learning different things at each pass. Whether you are looking to decrease the amount of work you need to do, or increase your efficiency, allowing you to do more work in a days time, this book is a step by step guide. I would recommend this book to any entrepreneur, the sooner you read this book, the better off you will be.”

Recommendations for new books to read would be much appreciated. To this point, we have had suggestions for Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff books.
